it's no news that raymond would throw bananas at any officials at the legislature.
but yesterday's action was a wee bit over the top.
he went straight to the financial secretary's desk, knocked down the podium, spilt secretary’s glass of water, tried to grab his speech notes in his hands and succeeded.
if you have seen the youtube clip, you would see how frightened and shocked the staff were.
so was i.
this time he’s taken it too far.
we’d love to see our advocates being rational and sensible.
we voted for our legislature members, we did not expect him to represent us in this way though.

true. FS is known for his good temper. but u can still see his 慍色 in LegCo. but more astonishing is that when I browsed discussion groups on internet, some people really approved of what they did. simply bad taste if people in this city think they can use whatever abusive language to scold whoever simply becoz *they hold public service* (from "尿獸冬"/"坡妹"/"卑鄙無恥下流賤格" - direct quotes from a so called AO-turned-radio host aka cheap guy). Why govt of this city has no 官威/嚴, always subject to contempt, is becoz of this shitty media, which instigated a bunch of always-yelling people who pay NOT a penny of the tax.
Thanks for ur comment g. I was shocked by the incident about the ao-turned host on radio. I simply could not imagine such harsh words came out his mouth like that on the radio. AO's are just doing their jobs, if they had choices I guess they would do things differently too. I reckon the public can't just abuse the public servants like that. Sure we pay tax, but what are we if we don't have any respect for our public servants? Nouveaux riches!
When I watched the clip the only person who was really calm was denise yue, she just sat there, expressing her anger(if there was any) by not responding. Talking about being cool. I think that's how it's done.
i dunno if it is naive to talk about "respect" at this age. Criticism, however harsh and cynical, is fine as freedom of speech is what is long treasured, and no longer "supress-ible" in this cyber age when discussion forums are flourishing. that's the political reality public servants have to face.
but there is still the bottom line. Honestly I think it will only backfire if ppl here don't have the minimum trust/respect for its public servants.
denise yue is surely cool..but the Leung CM incident is indeed a blot , and the controversial unfair salary-raising proposal in 2007 (head-shaking…) but still ok, at least she is the most stylish 最冇官味 and good-looking female official (yes, like some others , I am superficial and buys into image)
talking abt that cheap guy, u should definitely search a group "強烈譴責商台黃永語言暴力" in fb. Worth reading (at least for a moment of joy for some of the hilarious high-quality posts written there). Just forward it to those u know. Even more glad if you join and lodge a complaint to BA (which is a simple process) : p
thanks for coming back g, :). i didn't know there are people out there who actually care about these issues.
i guess freedom of speech is a very important component that made the hk today. though if everyone abuses the right that we have today, we could just lose it easily tmr. and very true that all civil servants are facing the ever rising demands/expectations from our public too.
talking about denise yue being cool and stylish... i vaguely remember that i actually wrote a piece about how she rolled her sleeves up very casually (it was actually a suit jacket) and that made the whole outfit! and i admit that i m superficial and do buy into images too. not that i've met her in person though i'd very much love to if i could.
i thought they held off the salary raising proposal becos of the economic downturn? i'm not sure, but it wasn't very well received, was it?
and the AO-turned host, i'd very much doubt his integrity if i was his employer. how can you turn onto ppl from ur previous employment like that? doesn't that say you made a bad choice working there too? i dunno, his logic is entirely confusing to me. though he might pay taxes, but so do the civil servants!
thanks for visiting again.:) and i did enjoy reading the fb group discussions.
no nar..he actually prides on being an AO before(albeit a small-potato) and brags on making resignation because he can't bear "bureaucracy"..blah blah blah..only to "自抬身價". Very 笑大人個口. (after all at this age the 光環 around AO is rapidly fading, and he is not even the first to quit! )
his logic is simple: 蝦細唔蝦大(因住俾屎餵)
Hm...maybe i'm getting a bit serious. Maybe for such kind of ppl, the best thing is just to give him a 陳冠希式歪咀微笑
so i will stop here, talk too much
:D
i guess he'd be proud becos it's always very competitive to get in as an AO. that proves that he's actually worth something.
but talking about bureaucracy... if he was prepared to join the civil service, he'd have expected all the bureaucratic sh*t... it's a govt after all, and who can tell me one example of a nonbureacratic govt?
i understand how you feel towards this kinda ppl... but i guess, we should again, learn from denise... letz just sit here and do nothing... nothing annoys them more than us not giving him a rat's a**.
=)
smile, have a good sunday!
