安全感 和 江湖氣

是這樣的。
你有沒有發覺,其實你很多朋友都是從同學仔演變過來的。
我有一班同學,他們從幼稚園,小學,中學一直都在同一間學校唸。
要命的是他們的父母還是相熟,所以這些人自然歸併在朋友一類裡了。

同學仔可以升級為朋友的,因為交心,知己知彼,也無甚利益衝突,總體來說。
但你跟父母說起來,總還是說,「我同學xxx。」
年少的時候,「朋友」兩個字,在父母心中,是帶有「江湖氣」的。
而「同學」二字則是金漆招牌、信心保證,其實誰知道你的同學最後會不會變成流氓闖蕩江湖呢?
至今在父母面前,我對於從小就認識的要好,仍舊以「同學」作定語
一來是從小習慣如此,二來這個詞給我很大的安全感。
因為我們從小一起長大啊,見過互相最傻、最不堪或者最美麗、最純潔的一面。

現在的小朋友則好得多,父母西化,很小已經以「朋友」相稱了。
因為摩登嘛!
完全沒有任何江湖氣。
不過我仍舊覺得一個十一、二歲的少年,如果忽然對我說,「我朋友xxx」,我還是會感覺有些奇怪。
或許是我老氣橫秋吧。

I even address my college friends as 同學!

ditto!
i address my grad school friend who wasn't even my classmate as 同學。
but in english, it loses its essence, everyone is a friend (rolling eyes).

No... some are coworkers, some are colleagues...

I wouldn't consider people I work with as friends...

i agree with you.
but what i meant was, "classmates" can be friends but not the other way round.
so in some sense, it's for people who are closer with you.
i won't consider people i work with as friends. thank god i don't hate them already.

you see that's why I choose my profession.

So long I don't mind to be less successful, I do have control on who I work with and at this point so far, I only work with people I like.

and I have refused to work with people that I don't like.

Some people might consider me unprofessional but well, I value my happiness more than my professional image I guess.
